On an LML the active regen process initiates once 42 grams of soot have collected in the DPF or after 700 miles without active regen (whichever comes first). DPF temperatures during an active regen will quickly climb to 1000 deg F in order to quickly burn collected soot off and allow the DPF differential pressure to come back down. A Minimum of $1,400 Saved in Total Cost of Operation. Owners can plan on buying two will-fit DPFs versus one Genuine Cummins product. At today’s prices, that would cost about $3,400 versus $2,000 for the Genuine Cummins DPF. That’s roughly $1,400 extra for the DPFs alone. Downtime, missed deliveries, reduced fuel efficiency and labor costs
Purpose and Function. Diesel exhaust particulate filters (DPFs) are used in all light-duty diesel vehicles, since 2007, to meet the exhaust emissions standards. The heated exhaust gas from the DOC flows into the DPF, which captures diesel exhaust gas particulates (soot) to prevent them from being released into the atmosphere.
Passive regeneration was designed to actively burn off the soot during some instances of regular driving. When the exhaust temperature increases to a high enough level (around 500°C), the DPF can cleanly burn off the excess soot in its filter. However, this only happens at speeds of over 40mph and needs to carry on for around 15 minutes.
After last dealer visit my truck runs very well. I do not know how long it will run like this. I expect I have to clean the DPF at some point and I want to get all the information and keep in file. My truck is 2007 320 CDI has 108,000 miles. Based on what I know DPF should last ~250,000 miles? Prior to clean up unless it is damaged.
How long does a DPF regeneration take? Passive DPF regeneration occurs naturally under normal driving conditions and may require hours of continuous driving at highway speeds to complete. The active DPF regeneration process typically takes 20-30 minutes, during which time the engine must be run at a specific temperature and RPM.
Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) Regeneration. If you mainly do 30km a day of city driving (avg 30-40 km/h), how often a week do you need to do the DPF Regeneration cycles ? How long does a normal Regeneration cycle take? - i.e. How long on the freeway do you need to drive for 1 cycle? Thanks
Because the DPF is under the car, not 'close coupled' in the exhaust manifold, the car needs to be driven quite a long way (50 miles) at 2000 - 2500 rpm to get the DPF hot enough to promote a passive regeneration.

The company's DPF is built to last and has been around for over 80 years. In order to regenerate a DPF in a truck, you should use a diagnostic scanner. These tools enable you to erase fault codes and graph live data. They work on all Peterbilt trucks, and you can use them for everything from forced DPF regeneration to oil light resets.

vehicle when a DPF regeneration is required based on engine run time, fuel consumed and distance traveled since the last DPF regeneration. 1. Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle. 2. Is DTC P2463 set? ⇒ If DTC P2463 is set, refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle in SI. After following

LML Duramax DPF Regeneration The Duramax regen system operates seamless/stealthy by design. In typical operation you will not notice that it is happening. The indicators are very subtle. Idle speed will increase from the 720 standard to approximately 850. You may notice a hot smell when standing. The instant economy
The Kubota certified cleaning process incorporates both pneumatic cleaning and follows it up with an additional high-temperature bake in a specialized kiln. This extra level of deep cleaning provides maximum cleaning and best conditions for longer DPF life cycle. Some cleaning services may not have this capability or may charge extra for it.
In an LML, the power is softer, it's a little more sluggish. In the L5P, if the power is softer, I can't tell yet, not used to the baseline over the LML yet. They both do exhibit the Higher Idle during regen, and both did emit a slight smell, more like the first time the heater kicks on in the winter than an actual automotive smell.
It is important that a diesel vehicle is periodically driven at speed, and for long enough that the passive regeneration process kicks in. This will give the DPF the best chance to reach a lifespan that can be as long as 150,000km, while also ensuring that the exhaust system and engine remain healthy.
