The closest alternative to the RF 15-35, the EF 16-35 f/2.8L III USM, is a fraction cheaper than the RF alternative. The EF 16-35 f/2.8L II USM, which is a lot cheaper, does not deliver comparable image quality. All in all, the RF 15-35 looks like a bargain. The only thing I dislike about it is it has too large a diameter.

Regarding its rather steep pricing of around 1400€/US$ it's primarily targeting the professional market segment. Compared to its predecessor Canon claims to have "improved the peripheral image quality at the wide-angle end".

16-35 F2.8 II works great with 1DX II, fairly silent too. the vII is the only lens that I own that O can see softness in canon 1080p video mode. the corners at 2.8 around 20mm suck really bad. The 16-35/4 is sharper than the previous 2.8's, IIRC its much better on the long end. And its stabilized.
The 20/2.8 USM is the lens I carry when I'm traveling light. Versus Canon 17-40mm f/4. Canon 17-40mm f/4, 16-35mm/2.8 II, 16-35mm/4 IS and 11-24mm f/4 L. bigger. The Canon 17-40mm f/4 L is the smallest and lightest zoom here. It's popular, but not comparable; it's a much longer (and more useful) focal length range. Versus Canon 16-35mm f/2.8 L
Title pretty much says it all. I’ve got a 5D Mk IV with a 24-105 f/4L II and I’m looking to get a ultra-wide angle zoom. Specifically, I’m looking at the 16-35 f/2.8L II or the Sigma 14-24 f/2.8, but leaning towards the Canon just for the fact that 35mm is a whole lot more versatile than stopping at 24mm like the Sigma does.
Introduction. As usual we'll have a look how this full frame lens performs in the APS-C DSLR scope (using an EOS 350D/Digital RebelXT).
AstrophotographyTest. This is a test of the Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8 L USM Autofocus Zoom Lens on a star field. This is Canon's very expensive, top-of the line zoom lens that costs about $1,450. The constellation of Cepheus is near the center of the frame, and Cygnus is in the upper right corner. This is the full frame image at 20mm of focal length.
The Nikon 17-35/2.8 is terribly long in the tooth. It was great for film and drew rave reviews when it first came out, but it is no longer good for the current high resolution cameras. I believe it was slightly better than the Canon mark I version, but the mark II and mark III are better. 16-35 is a great range for PJ work and there was, and
